Supporting Women's Access to Healthcare
7.2 million women of reproductive age in 9 states have been immediately banned from reproductive freedom; an additional 19.4 million women in 12 states will soon likely lose all or part of that freedom; and an additional 11 million women in 9 states face uncertainty, depending on new state laws.
The Supreme Court's decision to reverse nearly 50 years of the constitutional protection of women's reproductive freedom will have devastating consequences by putting the health of countless women at risk. This decision will have a disproportionate impact on communities of color, rural areas, and women with few resources who can't easily travel out of state to access the care they need.
As many of you know, our mission at Skip has always been to increase accessibility of critical services and information for individuals and business owners. This is our core mission. This has manifested in helping over 1 million people over the past 5 years — access driving, voting, government relief, funding — and now information on reproductive freedom.
We're committed to supporting women's fundamental right to reproductive freedom and here's how we're taking action now:
- Skip will commit to covering all travel and accommodation expenses for any Skip employee or contractor or their listed dependents seeking access to abortion care.
- For Skip employees on U.S. health plans, we're actively working with benefits providers to cover additional travel expenses for those who live in states where access is limited or unavailable.
- We will continue to increase our information and services that help accessibility, including access to important reproductive freedom information and location of all abortion clinics in the US.
